标题:Routes to the Quantum and Half-quantum Anomalous Hall Effect

摘要:The quantum anomalous Hall effect (QAHE) promises potential application in low power consumption, high-speed spintronic devices, and future topological quantum computation. In contrast, half-quantum anomalous Hall effect (Half-QAHE) severs as the direct evidence of an axion insulator which presents topological magnetoelectric effect (TME). For both, the main obstacles currently are the lack of suitable materials. In this talk, I will report our recent research on the design of QAHE and Half-QAHE based on intrinsic magnetic topological materials Mn-Bi-Te family. We established a phase diagram based on magnetic topological materials MnBi4Te7 and MnBi6Te10, providing design principles to trigger the QAHE by tuning experimentally accessible knobs, such as the slab thickness and magnetization. We also find that stoichiometric MnBi8Te13 could enable the measurement of Half-QAHE, which serves as the direct proof of the general concept of axion insulators and promotes the realization of topological magnetoelectric effect (TME).[1] Phys. 报告人简介:孙红义,南方科技大学/深圳量子科学与工程研究院研究助理教授。2016年在南京大学物理学院取得博士学位,2017年至2020年在南方科技大学从事博士后研究,2021年初加入深圳量子科学与工程研究院,任研究助理教授。当前主要研究领域是磁性拓扑体系,特别是利用第一性原理计算寻找和设计具有奇异量子效应的磁性拓扑材料。已发表论文20多篇,包括一篇PRL和一篇PRX。
